Confessions of an Unloved

Wednesday, June 21st, 2006

I was browsing my poetry archives one night on my insomniac hours and I found this poem I had written not so long ago. Argh! It’s quite funny how the memories of a poem could haunt you till dawn…

Confessions of an Unloved

You had me hit, Eros
with your swift burning arrows
But why does it have
to hurt this way?

I am crying for my fate
I am weeping for my soul
I am sobbing for my life
I am mourning for my heart.

This is torture
This is torment
This is anguish
This is sorrow
This is misery
This is agony
This is sadness
This is despair.

I’m in grief because we’re blind
I’m in woe because we’re mute
I’m in pain because we’re deaf
I’m in angst because we’re numb.

Why Eros do you allow -
such love unrequited?

This suffering is unbearable.

I feared Death once
but no longer now
Better die loving
than living unloved.

And the Copycat Keeps Menacing

Saturday, June 17th, 2006

Lately, a so-called schizophrenic posted an excerpt of my article in his blog entry titled ‘Idiotic Supposition’. Well, his ‘wizardry in words’ failed him. ‘Idiotic’, no matter how you look at it is an offensive word. Being labeled an ‘idiot’ or having a work that is ‘idiotic’ is an insult. However, I refuse to be in the least sense, damaged by such word play to one of my works. That reply to my article only meant that I did succeed in my goal of telling the world (or at least a part of the Riverside community) that I study in a school that has an intellectual caste system. I also thank whoever it was who printed my work and distributed it to my fellows. To those who were struck by my ideas, I say think about what you’re doing.

"DUH?"

Ladies and gentlemen, I have spoken.

Idiotic Supposition in Riverside College

Wednesday, June 14th, 2006

Come June 2004, second year nursing students were sectioned according to their grades from the previous year level. This was part of the college administrators’ plan for selective education, one wherein the highest sections, Alpha for instance, would be given more in-depth lectures, harder tests, more participation in extra-curricular activities, easy admission to such organizations as the school’s newspaper The Riverside Collegian and the Riverside College student government, and more recognition, as opposed to lower sections, for example, sections India or Nano, that are intellectually spoon-fed, given no-brainer tests, have lesser participation in extra-curricular activities, have difficulty entering the school’s top organizations, and yes, given little or no recognition by the school.

The above article is an exerpt from what had been posted by a certain JFB in his Friendster blog. I loved the article…so were the RSG Officers and the Yearbook Staff when I gave them a printed copy.

So what exactly is the problem? Superiority Complex or Inferiority Complex?

Sa lahat ng luha
Lagi kang may kasama
Sa gitna ng ulan, karamay mo ko kaibigan
Tatahakin mong daan di kita iiwan
Di kana magiisa, kaibigan

[chorus]
** peng you yi shen yi chi zou
Na xie ri zhi bu zhai you
Ating pagkakaibigan di magbabago kailanman
Peng you bu cheng gu tan gou
Yi shen peng you, ni hui dong
Kahit na magkalayo, nandito ka sa ‘king puso

[coda]
Yi ju hua, yi bei zhi
Kaibigan kahit kailan
