This is just an ordinary day

the sun still glares in the cloudless sky
the trees still dance in Zephyr’s blows
the birds still sing in harmony
the mountains still stand immobile

This is just an ordinary day

the road still lengthens to the horizon
the church bell still rings every hour
the children still play their street games
the radio still air its news

This is just an ordinary day

I still breathe in the calming breeze
I still walk a measured distance
I still eat when my stomach groans
I still yawn when I am tired

This is just an ordinary day

Yes it may seem
though this is the day
my poor heart died.
